Sierra Hot Springs
&
The Sierra Schools Foundation
Proudly Present

The Second Annual
“Spring For The Schools” Fundraiser

Spring For The Schools

May 11th.

That’s the day we, along with the Sierra Schools Foundation, (www.sierraschoolsfoundation.org) co-create a Wellness Day at Sierra Hot Springs. This is a day filled with mini workshops, all organic luncheon at the Philosophy Café, massage and, of course, soaking in all natural hot springs. All proceeds from this Event go directly to the Sierra Schools Foundation, yet another of the many grass roots organizations across America dedicated to raising funds for schools instead of wars; a lesson elected officials of the world someday may learn, perhaps from a program just like this one.
Unlike most “donations,” at our May 11th “Spring For The Schools” you receive an instant reward for your generosity, varying with the three options to choose from, which are as follows:

The Relaxation Package
With a $30 donation, you get a full day of soaking, delicious lunch at the Philosophy Café, and one mini workshop. (Look farther down for workshop options.)

The Enjoyment Package
For a $70 donation, you get soaking, lunch, 2 mini workshops, and a 25 minute therapeutic massage.

The Indulgence Package
Then there’s the $100 donation, which includes a 50 minute massage, unlimited mini workshops, and, of course, lunch and complete use of all of our pools for the day.

One heads up for everyone – from 8 AM until 3 PM on this particular Saturday, (May 11th) bathing suits are mandatory at our Temple Dome Pool Area. (The main pool area, with the hot pool, cold plunges, warm pool and sauna.) Please remember to bring one for the 8 to 3 time frame.

Mini Workshops

This year’s 50-minute workshops begin on the hour at 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, Noon and 2:00. (Lunch is at 1.) Each start time has 2 offerings, one of which is indoors and the other outside, and they are as follows:

9:00 AM – Pilates inside, Herbal Detox outside.
10:00 AM – Tai Chi inside, Water Yoga in our Warm Pool.
11:00 AM –Yoga inside, Water Yoga in our Warm Pool.
Noon – Pilates inside, Tai Chi outside.
2:00 PM – Yoga inside, Basic Energy Healing outside..

Calling Ahead
So we can schedule massages and have at least a general idea of how many people we will be serving lunch to that day, (May 11th, Saturday … did I say that already?) please call to tell us, “That sounds wonderful. Sign me up.” Pre-pay with Master or Visa card, and the number to call is …

530-994-3773 Ext. 0. between 9:30 and 5:00

This, of course, is the number to call for any Sierra Hot Springs reservations; and remember that we have just one incoming line here. If you don’t get through to a live person on the first try, just leave your number and we will call you right back.

You can also email us if you just have questions about the Event. Our email is info@sierrahotsprings.org.

Spontaneous Walk-Ins are also highly encouraged, you might just wake up on the 11th thinking, “What should I do today?” and a trip to the Sierras could be the perfect answer.

Any day is a good day to visit our little Retreat Center, Saturday, May 11th is a day that you can simultaneously do something for yourself, and … for our youth. Our future. Hope to see you.

Find your voice…….Speak your truth…….Walk your talk……

Finding our voice is both literal and metaphor for finding our place in the world and expressing our gifts through powerful communication. By literally coming to our senses and listening to our bodies, we can learn to connect to a discerning wisdom. This keeps us balanced and centered and able to navigate diversity during times of conflict and uncertainty.

The underlying teaching of these trainings is that to live fully in relationship with others, we must live more fully in our own bodies. Accessing the wisdom of the body helps us to walk our talk in the world, to listen more empathically to others and to embody our principles in order to create Community wherever we are. This requires centering ourselves, learning to listen to our senses and letting the intelligence of our heart and intuition inform our actions and our words.

Woven into our programs are the time-honored lessons of self- mastery and ways to move conflict to connection and healing distilled from the peaceful art of Aikido.

Come explore this unique integration of linguistic, emotional and physical practices designed to help you align your words, movements and being with your deepest values. These trainings will help you develop life long practices for synchronizing language, emotion, actions and meaning.

“We are what we practice” Aristotle

Take a moment to consider a basic somatic principle: you are always practicing something. Right now, you are practicing how you are sitting or standing, how you pay attention to these words, how you judge, how you feel, how you are breathing and more. Within our bodies and minds we carry the sum total of our histories. We are shaped by our experiences and consciously and unconsciously, practicing who we are becoming every day. The habits and patterns we practice over the course of our lifetimes become hard-wired in us cognitively, emotionally and physically and reveal themselves outwardly by our shape, expression, gestures, movements, and behaviors. Our inner world, which expresses itself outwardly, is called the “soma.” Our soma is “me”, our unique and distinctive self. This understanding that we can practice whom it is we choose to become is at the core of Somatic Consensus.

With Nonviolent Communication and Somatic Consensus internal consensus and building consensus with others becomes one integrated practice. Its practice cultivates an environment that is generative for both the individual and the whole and it represents the best of what a new paradigm for the world might be.

Who is it for
Adults of all ages, beginner students to advanced trainers of NVC.
Coaches, therapists, leaders those interested in developing personal and sustainable practices for accessing NVC consciousness.

The Work of Byron Katie

as facilitated by Helena Montelius

Radical Shift into Love - Meeting the Beloved Within

Welcome Sisters, to the third annual retreat for women where we dive deep into the cleansing waters of Sierra Hot Springs and into our own hearts and minds.
Exploring and shifting beliefs and stories that block our heart and our natural state of love.
Combining The Work, Mindfulness Yoga and Ceremony we will inquiry into our thoughts about love, romance, sex, masculine/feminine, falling in/out of love, relationship needs/wants, commitment…
We will look at current stressful relationship situations, past painful memories and future hopes.

The Work is a simple yet profound process of self-inquiry that helps you identify and question the beliefs, thoughts and stories that cause our stress and pain. Once a painful belief is seen through, it lets go of us. The Work is a very practical, down-to-earth, tool that clears out what is not true for me anymore and leaves me open and free to be and express love without fear or holding back.

I feel very passionate about this work because it has shifted pretty much all relationships in my life. I have healed painful childhood memories and fallen in love with my 83 year- old mom… I have connected with my half brother that I had never met before because I was so angry at my father… I have made sweet peace with my ex-husband…I have called home all the projections I used to send out
to the masculine and now live in a deep love affair with self and all of existence… my current marriage of 12 years is very supportive and sweet despite a lot of “midlife-crisis” drama…

We laugh and cry a lot together during this retreat, support and love each other as sisters, share deeply about our lives and bond deeply…welcome, welcome, welcome…

About Helena: I am 52 and a mother of two; my son Jon who left this earth in 2001 and my daughter Leah soon-to-be 13. I live with my family on 17 acres outside Nevada City. I am a Certified Facilitator of The Work of Byron Katie and have practiced The Work since 2000. I have been a meditation student/teacher for over 30 years.
I am a Certified Life-Cycle Celebrant. A Celebrant is trained in creating and performing ceremony and ritual.
I am also the co-founder of The Nevada City Women’s Temple group together with Chameli Ardagh, we have been meeting every Monday for 7 years for feminine spiritual practices.
