Sierra Hot Springs is a non-profit organization that is operated, maintained, improved, and managed by a dozen or so resident workers. Most residents choose to live here because they enjoy living at the hot springs or are simply captivated by the natural beauty of the land. We accept new residents on an as-needed basis. Housing is limited, and during the winter months the workload decreases significantly.
If you are interested in becoming a resident, the first step is to fill out and submit a residency application form. Next, interviews are held with two members of the resident group. If all parties are in agreement, you fill out all relevant paperwork and begin a three-week trial period. At the end of this period, the resident group reviews the applicant, and, if approved, resident candidacy begins. Candidacy ends three months after arrival date. At this point, the resident group again reviews the candidate and, if approved, the candidate becomes a full resident group member.
At the beginning of the three-week
trial period, arrangements to pay a security deposit must be made. A security deposit of $200 is required of all candidates (refundable upon departure less money that may be owed). Wages start at $8 per hour. Camping residents must work a minimum of 20 hours per week. Housed residents must work a minimum of 30 hours per week. Rent is $70 per week, regardless of living situation.
You may request a residency application form by mail, e-mail, phone, or upon your next visit to Sierra Hot Springs.
We currently have openings for a dinner cook.
